Certificate
of Higher Education- Level 1 awarded by St Mary's University
College
A CERTIFICATE
OF HIGHER EDUCATION (CertHE) is a higher education qualification,
awarded after one year of part time study (interspersed
Saturdays) at university and shows a basic level of educational
competence. This level of training is appropriate for
anyone who wishes to learn and experience hypnosis and
how to induce it in others in a safe and professional
environment. The courses are part time and held on Interspersed
Saturdays.
This is a certified
course suitable for individuals wishing to gain a basic
understanding in the fundamental principles and practices
of clinical hypnosis. Students are introduced to the theoretical
concepts and the biological nature of hypnosis, the practical
skills required to induce hypnosis, basic problem assessment
through taking a case history, simple clinical applications
and the ethical use of hypnosis. Students will have many
opportunities to experience the hypnotic state and learn
various approaches to induce and deepen hypnosis in a
safe and professional environment. A substantial amount
of learning takes place in the classroom, in a safe and
supervised environment with both practical and theoretical
sessions. In addition students are requested to spend
on average 6 hours per week on independent learning, including
a variety of projects and reading, through the duration
of the level one training programme. The aim of independent
learning is to enhance each student’s learning experience
and also deepen his or her understanding. Click
here to fast track to application form.
The (CertHE)
in Clinical Hypnosis is comprised of 4 modules; each worth
30 credits; 2 each semester. Students can choose to complete
their studies one semester at a time and register for
2 modules. Students cannot register for less than two
modules and all modules must be completed in the required
order. Students can choose to continue with their studies
and undertake the next 2 modules in the following semester
or have a break and return at a later date. This particularly
allows students to have a break for personal circumstances
if required and still retain the accumulated credits.
This system may also be of benefit for students who wish
to study Clinical Hypnosis in a scientific, theoretical
and practical way without the need for full training in
clinical practice. Students can also use this system to
explore whether undertaking the full DipHE is right for
them.
Student Assessment
Modules are assessed through a variety of
methods. At level one, each student will be
assessed continually throughout the course to
evaluate practical competence. Theoretical and
practical knowledge will also be assessed during
and at the end of the course. A minimum of 40%
must be achieved in all assessments to be
accepted onto the next level of training.
Self Development
The primary aim of the course is to help
others, however many students who undertake the
course experience personal growth and mental
development. Furthermore many of those students
attending the course have gained considerable
success within their own professional
environment by the utilisation and application
of clinical hypnosis within their own framework.
